개인정보 처리방침
Sidechat은 Mac의 브라우저 사이드바에서, 이미 실행 중인 카카오톡 Mac 앱의 대화를 읽고 메시지를 보내는 도구입니다. 카카오와 관련이 없는 독립 프로그램입니다. Chrome 확장 프로그램과, 같은 Mac에서 도는 보조 프로그램(SidechatHost)으로 이뤄져 있습니다.
내 Mac 안에서만 다루는 것
대화와 사진은 이 선 안에 머뭅니다.
- 채팅방 이름, 미리보기, 메시지, 사진은 화면에 보여 주기 위해 메모리에서만 다룹니다. 파일이나 기록으로 남기지 않고, 운영자를 포함해 누구에게도 보내지 않습니다.
- 마지막으로 연 방과 쓰던 글은 패널을 다시 열 때 이어 쓰도록 브라우저의 세션 메모리에 둡니다. 브라우저를 닫으면 사라집니다.
- 연결 여부와 테마 같은 설정은 브라우저에 저장합니다. 대화 내용은 들어가지 않습니다.
- 사진을 보낼 때 클립보드를 잠깐 씁니다. 클립보드 관리 앱을 쓰면 그 앱에 기록될 수 있습니다.
- 사용량 동의 여부, 설치 ID, 아직 보내지 않은 사용량 숫자는 Mac의
~/Library/Application Support/Sidechat/폴더에 둡니다. 대화 내용은 들어가지 않습니다.
밖으로 나가는 것
아래 세 가지뿐입니다.
- 링크 미리보기: 대화에 있는 링크의 미리보기를 보여 주기 위해 그 주소에 접속합니다. 상대 사이트는 내 IP 주소를 볼 수 있습니다.
- 업데이트 확인: 보조 프로그램이 하루 한 번 sidechat.youngmin.app에서 새 버전 정보를 받습니다. 이때 앱 버전이 담긴 요청 하나를 보냅니다.
- 사용량(동의한 경우만): 설치마다 만든 임의 ID, 날짜, 앱 버전, 패널을 연 횟수, 방을 연 횟수, 보낸 메시지 수, 쓰는 테마를 하루 한 번 보냅니다. 방 이름, 상대, 미리보기, 메시지 내용, 메시지 시각은 보내지 않습니다. 설치할 때 고를 수 있고 패널 설정에서 언제든 끌 수 있습니다. 동의하지 않아도 모든 기능을 쓸 수 있습니다.
사용량을 쓰는 곳과 보관
- 목적: 베타 기간에 Sidechat이 실제로 쓰이는지 확인하는 데만 씁니다.
- 저장: Google Apps Script를 거쳐 운영자의 Google 스프레드시트에 쌓입니다. 저장 서비스는 Google이 제공합니다.
- 보관 기간: 받은 날부터 1년이 지나면 지웁니다.
- 제공: 판매하거나 광고에 쓰지 않고, 다른 곳에 제공하지 않습니다.
- 저장 방식이나 항목을 바꾸면 이 페이지를 먼저 고치고, 항목이 늘어나면 다시 동의를 받습니다.
사용자가 직접 보내는 것
진단 복사는 버전, 권한 상태, 창 개수, 오류 코드, 설치 ID만 복사합니다. 대화 내용은 들어가지 않으며, 사용자가 내용을 보고 직접 보낼 때만 전달됩니다.
Chrome 웹 스토어 사용자 데이터 정책
Sidechat이 다루는 정보의 사용과 전송은 Chrome 웹 스토어 사용자 데이터 정책을 따르며, 제한적 사용(Limited Use) 요건을 포함합니다.
지우는 방법
- 패널 설정에서 사용량 보내기를 끄면 그때부터 보내지 않습니다.
- 앱의
제거가 Sidechat이 만든 파일과 설치 ID를 지웁니다. - 이미 보낸 사용량을 지우려면

Privacy policy
Sidechat reads and sends KakaoTalk messages from your browser's side panel on a Mac, using the KakaoTalk Mac app that is already running. It is an independent program and is not affiliated with Kakao. It consists of a Chrome extension and a helper program (SidechatHost) that runs on the same Mac.
What stays on your Mac
Conversations and photos stay inside this line.
- Chat names, previews, messages and photos are handled in memory only, to show them on screen. They are not written to files or logs and are not sent to anyone, including the operator.
- The last room you opened and the text you were typing are kept in the browser's session memory so you can continue when you reopen the panel. They are cleared when the browser closes.
- Settings such as connection state and theme are stored in the browser. They contain no conversation content.
- Sending a photo briefly uses the clipboard. A clipboard manager app may record it.
- Whether you agreed to send usage, the install ID and usage counts not yet sent are kept in
~/Library/Application Support/Sidechat/on your Mac. They contain no conversation content.
What leaves your Mac
Only these three things.
- Link previews: to show a preview of a link in a conversation, Sidechat requests that address. The site can see your IP address.
- Update check: once a day the helper program fetches new version information from sidechat.youngmin.app. It sends one request that includes the app version.
- Usage (only if you agree): once a day, a random ID created for each install, the date, the app version, the number of times the panel was opened, the number of rooms opened, the number of messages sent and the theme in use. Room names, people, previews, message content and message times are never sent. You choose at install time and can turn it off in the panel settings at any time. Every feature works without it.
How usage is used and kept
- Purpose: only to check whether Sidechat is actually used during the beta.
- Storage: it is stored in the operator's Google spreadsheet through Google Apps Script. Google provides the storage service.
- Retention: deleted one year after it is received.
- Sharing: it is not sold, not used for advertising and not shared with anyone else.
- If the storage or the items change, this page is updated first, and you are asked again before any new item is sent.
What you send yourself
The 진단 복사 (copy diagnostics) button copies only versions, permission state, window counts, error codes and the install ID. It contains no conversation content and reaches anyone only if you review it and send it yourself.
Chrome Web Store User Data Policy
The use and transfer of information handled by Sidechat comply with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Deleting your data
- Turning off usage in the panel settings stops sending from then on.
